Actively
participating in a Chavurah is a vital part of CBS

The word Chavurah comes from the Hebrew word chaver, meaning friend. A Chavurah offers friendship, an extended family, and a great way to be a part of a close-knit group within the Bnai Shalom family. It provides its members with an opportunity for personal and spiritual growth through new and lasting friendships. This all comes about by socializing, learning, and celebrating Jewish life together. Successful Chavurot are those that meet regularly with most members attending and taking responsibility for various activities throughout the year. Whether you are a member of an existing Chavurah or curious about becoming actively involved in the Program, you are invited and encouraged to attend our Chavurah Faire. There will be representatives from several Chavurot who can share their first-hand experiences, and offer suggestions and ideas where and if needed. So, why not enjoy the casual, social and informative exchange . not to mention the wonderful desserts. Meet others and have a chance to mingle. And should you want to take the plunge, there will be sign-up forms available. I am looking forward to working with you in creating new Chavurot and showing you that this is a vital part of CBS and a fulfilling part of your synagogue experience. JoAnn
Knell Besides celebrating the Holidays, here are some tried and true Chavurah event ideas: Progressive Dinners, Ballroom Dancing Lessons, An Evening of Karaoke, or everyones personal favorite...Dining Out! Or how about attending Beach Blanket Babylon in San Francisco, or The California Shakespeare Company in Orinda, a docent led visit to the Magnus Museum, a visit to the new deYoung Museum in Golden Gate Park, or an As or Giants game. The ideas are as broad ranged as your groups imagination!
