CBS Gives an Enthusiastic Welcome to Rabbi Fisher

By Myrna Kimmelman, Event Chair

It was typical CBS hospitality but with a twist; a ceremony that we haven’t had in nearly 40 years; a new cause for celebration! On January 12th, the CBS community celebrated the Installation of Rabbi Michelle Fisher with a ceremony and party. With approximately 350 people in attendance, guests from Maryland, New York, Los Angeles, and local churches and organizations, it was a warm welcome and a hearty Mazel Tov!

The evening began with an incredibly delicious and abundant cocktail hour in the upper courtyard. Food was prepared and organized by our very own Gwen Korney and Sandy Frucht. As always, they outdid themselves! Attendees mingled and noshed amid beautiful decorations expertly placed and organized by Emily Nakisher and Luther.

We then all entered the sanctuary for the ceremony itself. Rabbi David Rose from Har Shalom, Potomac, Maryland served as the installing officer. Also providing words were Hazzan Dinkin, Rabbi Freeman, President Rayna Arnold, and USCJ director Jay Weiner. Eighteen committee chairs welcomed Rabbi Fisher with a rose to represent their committee. Rayna provided responsive readings. Rabbi Fisher responded with appreciation for her welcome to CBS.

Finally, it was party time. With lights lining the walkways and beautiful interior of the social hall, attendees enjoyed pastries, cake, and a chocolate fountain. The party was a real celebration! Joann and Greg Knell provided all with incredibly delicious and decorative desserts and Emily and Luther provided the atmosphere. Jud Flato and his musicians played music for all to enjoy and dance.

A special thanks to the entire committee who worked unselfishly to provide CBS with another wonderful celebration and Rabbi Fisher with a memorable welcome and official installation.
