High Holy Day Information

Tickets for the High Holy Days

Tickets will be sent to you in a separate mailing

Tickets are required for all services and are non-transferable. For each Family Membership, one ticket will automatically be mailed for each adult member. Families with Single Memberships will receive one ticket. These tickets can be used for all services.

Tickets will be sent only to members in good standing. A member in good standing is one with no financial obligation more than three months in arrears. Please call the office at 925-934-9446 if you have questions about your standing.

For safety reasons, we ask that you keep your tickets with you at all times. Tickets are checked at the door; security personnel, office personnel, or ushers may ask to see your ticket at different times.

Additional Tickets

In order to accommodate extended families who wish to attend services together, members in good standing may obtain additional tickets in the following ways:

  1. Members’ children younger than age 13 should be enrolled in the Youth Services/Programs; no ticket is required.
  2. Members’ children age 13 through 17 (inclusive) should be in services with their parents; no ticket is required.
  3. Members’ children age 18 to 22 (inclusive) are considered part of the family; free tickets (no additional charge) will be provided upon written request to the office.
  4. Members’ children over the age of 22 who are (a) full-time students, or (b) have a permanent disability which prohibits them from living independently and who are also a member of the household of a Member in good standing, are considered part of the family and receive free tickets (no additional charge) upon written request to the office.
  5. Members' children under age 35 who are not in Category 3 or 4 (above) may purchase tickets in accordance with Purchase Policy, below.
  6. Members may purchase tickets for relatives over the age of 17 (other than their children) in accordance with Purchase Policy, below.

Purchase Policy

  1. Members may purchase additional tickets for family members at $100 per person for either Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur, or $150 for both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
  2. There is no charge for Family Service tickets, but guests must register ahead of time for security purposes.
  3. Requests for extra tickets must be made in writing; please complete the Additional Tickets Order Form and return to the office no later than Monday, September 12th.
  4. For those in the community who are not members’ relatives, we offer a special three-month “Taste of B’nai Shalom” membership for $600. This membership covers the period between 9/1/11 and 11/30/11 and includes all benefits of regular membership. High Holy Days tickets are provided free of charge with the membership. If you know of anyone who may be interested in this one-time offer, please have them call the office at 925-934-9446.

Reciprocal Arrangements

Our reciprocal arrangement enables a synagogue member in good standing that can demonstrate proof of membership at his/her synagogue to receive one “family set” of Congregation B’nai Shalom tickets at no additional charge.

Exceptions

Occasionally, a unique ticket request may call for additional review. If you have specific questions, please call the office at 925-934-9446 well in advance of the cut-off date, Monday, September 12th. Special requests will be addressed confidentially and with compassion.

Ushers
Ushers will be present at all services and all locations and will be available to assist you. They are volunteers. Please give them respect and accommodation. If you have specific and urgent issues with the Ushering Program or its participants, please contact a member of the Religious Committee.

We are sensitive to the heat and humidity build-up in the Main Sanctuary on a warm fall day. The Ushers will do their best to be attentive to the changes in the environment. If you have a specific problem or difficulty, please contact an Usher.

Ushers are needed at all service times and locations. If you would like to join us as an Usher at specific services, please complete the Usher Volunteer Form and return it to the office no later than Monday, September 12th.
